FIRE FROM HEAVEN: STUDIES IN SYRIAC THEOLOGY AND LITURGY

A critical examination of the Christology of the Church of the East which is commonly known as the Nestorian Church. This appellation is brought into question through a detailed examination of the phraseology of the invocations of the Holy Spirit in the Syriac liturgical tradition and a study of two early commentaries of the Divine Liturgy. A full translation of some early Syriac baptismal commentaries and Gabriel of Qatar`s writings on the Liturgy are included.
