Nil was the leader of the non possessor school of Russian theology who sought to bring the spiritual life of the early Egyptian Desert into the forests of the Russian north. This is the first complete translation of his works into English. It is accompanied by an introduction placing Nil`s thought within the wider context of fifteenth century Russia.
