A.S. KHOMIAKOV: POET, PHILOSOPHER, THEOLOGIAN
Alexi Khomiakov was one of the most important theologians of nineteenth century Russia and perhaps its principal interpreter to the Christian West. The essays in this collection explore a number of aspects of this multi faceted person: his theology, his correspondence with William Palmer of the Oxford movement, his influence on the music of Rachmaninoff etc. Written in English or Russian, they were presented at an international colloquium held at Holy Trinity Seminary, Jordanville, New York in October 2004. Khomiakov`s name is synonymous with the first Russian religious-philosophical movement - the Slavophiles - and his writings continue to inspire thinkers and researchers alike both in Russia and in the West. Volume 2 in the series Readings in Russian Religious Culture.
